A classic Harley was either a FL or a Sporty in the 50s and the 60s, pure and simple,,almost everything that the Factory came out with after 71 was a copy of what the Street riders of the 50s and 60s did to their bikes, the fat-boy is a good example, a E-Glide Standard stripped down, all the Dynas are copies of bikes we did in the 6os a FL with a Sporty front end on it..Have to give Wille G credit, he went out and looked at what we built and said, well if that is what they want, we can give it to them..nothing wrong with somebody going out and buying a road-king, chroming it off the shelf, but lets face it, not a lot of ingenuity there, buy a bike, buy $5,000 worth of chrome and have the shop install it, wa-la a custom Harley?? don't think so..on the other hand, not everybody can or wants to work on their own bike now days, I sure don't, so I let the shop do it, but when I was younger and had less money i did it all myself..I must say, that everything you see on the shop floor for sale, except for the V-Rod came from the ideas and thoughts of all the old guys.So when ya see a old guy riding his bike, give him a hug, for he is the reason that you have that fancy Dyna or the Fat-boy.

can you redefine your choices ?

as vintage is pre 1959
classic is 60's (pre shovel)
old school is 60's-70's (shovel era)
evos (80's)
twinkies/rubcycles (90's to date)
Well, I kept them very vague so to include varius styles.
I'd redefine them according to your classification but for the fact that the poll has already received various answers, and redefining it now would make it useless.
I called "classic" the "typical" unmodified HD look of the last 20 years.

I should have probably used another term.

U 1/2 2 ask?

When push came to shove ($$$$) the 01 Ultra went down the road, the belowli'l"piggy" went "wee, wee, wee, all the way home"
The 01 Ultra has now been replaced.........................with a 78 FLH
I supply the warranty.
Modern - I like what a lot of the guys are doing with the Geezrglides nowadays. Big cubes, lowered, bad extensions, etc. Comfort, "cool", speed, and handling all in one package.

I love the traditional classic harley... The retro look with wide white walls, solo saddle, etc

Like that Warrs bike out of England, King FLH. Would be a lot of fun with a 120inch motor.....
I like just about any style as long as it's carried throughout the bike. I suppose I'd pick "classic"
When I had the Sporty I got asked if I restored it myself.
Now, with my FXDXT, I'm more likely to get asked "What is that?"
