What exactly do they do to the heads, when they do head work? Bigger valves? Polishing?

It looks like for a decent build to get to 100/100 club I need the following:

Head work or New Performance Heads
New big bore jugs or Bore Originals
New Camshaft
Carb Tune(jetted)
New Pushrods
Crankcase machined?
New Crankshaft?

I can get some power by just doing a 95" but to reach my goals I'll need to take that next step. I'm not one to be happy with baby steps. So this thread has helped me understand my starting position and what I need more research on. I need more information about camshafts and the headwork.

Another question I had is about the balancers. What happens to the balance of the engine if I change all this stuff? Do I end up with good vibrations? What happens to the idle, does it lope like a race car? I'm not looking for a race engine here, just some good old fashion sleeping muscle.

For the 95" kit you wont need to crack the cases and have them machined, nor will you need a new crankshaft. Those are only needed if you go 103 or bigger. Zippers has a kit that goes to 107 without cracking the cases I believe.

You dont need a new crankshaft, or crankcase machined to reach the 100 mark.

Anyone got a link for pricing of the 107" Zippers kit for carbs. I can't find it anywhere on thier website? That kit looks very promising.

I don't care if you don't stand up for what you believe. Dealer "S" aren't the problem. Labowski is in MD and Deuce is in MO.
I stand up forwhat I believe.

Dealer prices are outrageouson just about anything.

With your attitude, I will lump you right with the other "hundred dollar" dealers I know. I'll never go inside one of those places again.

I've bought my last new Harley.

I love highly depreciated, low mileage, loaded RUB bikes that are fsbo, and I love my indy who knows twin cams well. He has 2 full time certified Harley wrenches on staff who work for him because they got sick of the stealership where they worked. He's swamped with work but still manages to be glad to see you come in.

I have to admit that I have access to 4 dealers within 75 miles of my house. The closest one I refuse to go into because of the way I was treated when looking for my first bike. I actually send my bike to the furthest one away becuase of the service and lower labor rates. From my point of view most dealers service does not offset the Big Prices they charge. I don't mind paying if I'm getting somethign for my money. I understand where both of you are coming from and there's definately argument for both sides. I think it's up to the consumers to make an informed decision like I'm trying to with this thread. The dealers need to be aware of their cost of doing business and the level of service they can provide to make me want to spend money in thier shops. Maybe raping me on every part isn't such a good idea. Eventually my *** is going to get sore and I'm going elsewhere.
