BAD Dealers and Experiences

RE: BAD Dealers and Experiences
The following letter was sent to Harley Davidson:
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to inform you of an incident that took place at one of your dealers. In September on 2004 I purchased a 2005 HD Heritage Softail Classic from Bob Schultz Motorcycles in St. Charles, MO. This was the second Harley Davidson that I had bought from them. In the past two years, I have purchased all the other things that go with being a Harley owner (boots, chaps, gloves, shirts, and tons of chrome) from this dealer. On two occasions, I called the dealer to see if they had a part in stock before I drove over there. Both times I was told, by the person that answered the phone, to call back later. They were to busy to take my call. On other occasions I have found that the parts salesman was more concerned about making a sale, rather than helping me find the right part.
The latest incident took place on 7/28/06. My bike was making a funny noise and spitting smoke, so I took it to Bob Schultz to look at it/ fix it while still under a warranty. It has just over 6000 miles on it. I met with the “service manager”, and told him what it was doing. While he was filling out a service ticket, I asked him how this worked with my warranty. Without saying a word, he got up and walked away, leaving me standing there for over five minutes. When he returned, he turned on my ignition, checked the mileage, and told me that I had no warranty, because I didn’t get my 5000 mile service done. When I told him that I had it done at another dealer, he told me to take it to them. I explained that the reason I took it to another dealer was because he couldn’t get me in for 10 days and the other dealer could do it in 1 day. He said that he didn’t care; they did the 5000 mile service, so they have to fix it. When I reminded him that the warranty said that I could take it to any authorized Harley dealer, he got very angry and rude. He told me that he would look at the bike and it was going to cost me $200 if he found nothing wrong with it. I told him that was fine, and asked “What if it’s a warranty item? Do I still have to pay $200?” He told me that it was not a warranty item, that it was something that the other dealer failed to do. When I asked him how could he know that without even looking at the bike, he got even more angry and shouted at me “Do you want me to look at this thing, or not”
It was at that point that I realized that I would be better off going somewhere else. I no longer trusted this rude and belligerent “service manager”. I told him that I was going to another dealer and he said “Good, get the f_ _ _ _ out of my shop.” Shocked, I asked him what his problem was, and he said “I have a whole file of things that we have done for free for you, and I’m sick of it. I’m giving you nothing for free” The only thing that the dealer has ever done for free was my 1000 mile service. That was included with the sale of the bike. I told him this, and mentioned the thousands of dollars I had spent there on other stuff. He told me that I was an A_ _ H_ _ _, and to never come back. When I was leaving he also said that he hopes I “wreck my bike and break my neck”
When I got home, I called the dealer to complain to the owner. That was when I found out that the rude jerk I had been talking to was the owner.
Over the past few years, I have been to many Harley Davidson dealers all over the country, and have never been treated the way I was treated at Bob Schultz Motorcycles. I have been to dealers, only to buy a shirt or just look around, and found very friendly, professional people who were glad to see me. They take pride in their stores and respect their customers. You will find none of that at Bob Schultz Motorcycles. Their store is dirty and looks more like a garage than a Harley dealer. Their employees are rude and unfriendly, and do no

RE: BAD Dealers and Experiences
MID-OHIO Harley Davidson SERVICE DEPARTMENT, pissed me off so bad that I gave the salesman back his dealer shirt he gave me when I bought the bike, the other free shirt he gave me I painted a red circle and bar through their dealer logo on back.
I wouldn't even let these guys(TECHs) change my oil, after the F*&!ing run around they gave me fixing my bike.

RE: BAD Dealers and Experiences
Los Banos, CA HD Stealer (Golden Valley HD)
Swung by the dealer today on my way back home from the airport--been out of town for a few weeks swamped on business.
I fully expected the bike to be here sometime this week as promised.
Sales lady tells me " sorry Dave, it was sold at our sister dealership to someone else...sorry"
As some background...
I called around a few weeks ago lookin for a Road King Classic in Vivid Black. Golden Valley HD in Los Banos, CA said they had one coming that no one had locked down. I immediately drove by, worked out the details (MSRP + License, additions, etc), and put a $500 deposit down. Said I'll pay cash when it gets here and here are the items I want added before delivery. We agreed on the details and everything was cool. We stood right there and shook hands after they took my money and I fully expected them to deliver on their end.
In a nutshell--They flat out lied to me and screwed me over--wouldn't answer my calls earlier in the week, etc. I run my own business as well. When I stand face-to-face with someone and make a deal, it is cast in stone. WE HAVE A DEAL! THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND SHOWED ME THE DOOR!
If you are ever in the central valley run from these guys. They are unethical at the least! I will be contesting this charge on my CC.
I will also be sending this same info to the MOCO.

RE: BAD Dealers and Experiences
No...
But they will!
They said it would be applied to a bike being delivered in Nov.
Said I wouldn't be interested..I'll take my money elsewhere.
Told me I would forfeit if I did that.
Still no return call from them about refunding my money--no CC activity as well.
Charge has already been contested on my CC (non delivery of goods)
Complaint has been filed with the BBB
Complaint has been filed with CA Attorney Gen
Letter has been sent to MOCO
Complaint will be filed today with CA DMV
and anything else I can think up.

RE: BAD Dealers and Experiences
And Let Me Give Credit Where Credit Is Due...
Called around this morning looking for RKC. Found one at Visalia HD (Visalia, CA).
Had exactly what I was looking for. Drove by and they gave me a good deal. No high pressure sales. Just stand up folks looking to make a deal. I wanted some additional add-ons (handlebars, stainless lines, chrome, etc). Parts guys bent over backwards to make sure I got the bars and other stuff I wanted. Real patient, real knowledgable, square dealing.
Told sales we had a deal and paid--they immediately pulled bike off floor so no one would touch it. They took me around and introduced me to everyone. Without exception, they all thanked me for my business and told me to call or stop by anytime for any reason.
Also told them I would be out of town for the next ten days on business and would not be able to come by when it was complete. Their solution--we'll trailer it up to your house on Wed (50 miles) and drop it off with your wife. That way you'll have it in the garage when you get back--NO CHARGE!!!
Wow..real stand up guys. Real square dealing..Great customer service
Again..
