GOOD Dealers and Experiences

My Engine Magician
I have never had a "good" dealer experience. I have had a great mechanic experience though.
Geoff Gaites owns and actively runs the Cycle Doctor in Costa Mesa, CA.
Upon recommendation from a friend, I took him my first new Harley 2003 Wide Glide for some umph. I needed the ability to pass when I needed to, and I live at altitude, so that was tough.
What I ended up with, as of today, is a 40K mile bike with zero difficulties, zero leaks, zero mechanical malfunctions as a result of his work, and WAY better performance.
I am the proud owner of a 94hp/108lbs torque bike that runs about ten degrees cooler and ten mpg better than stock. All this with a mostly stock engine, stock carb, a Thunder Header, a Crane tuner and his magic on a dyno.

Mid Ohio Harley in Springfield Ohio. Great folks - very helpful and patient while I asked endless questions on several occasions - even when the doors should have been locked - as my shopping focus went from used FatBoys to new FatBob, used Road King and finally popping the cork on a new FLHX.
Also have to give a big shoutout to Buckminn's D&D in Xenia Ohio. I ride with those folks any time!

stopped by Old Road Harley in Santa Clarita, CA couple days ago....
they installed a Progressive Touring link for $85 (indy shop quoted $185 for same job),
the mechanic also installed a front master cylinder without charging me for it (indy shop quoted $75 to do the job)
oh....they also cleaned both my front brake calipers.....I waited for the bike and I know they spent three hours on it.....
btw....every time I go to the indy shop even for an hour job I have to drop off the bike there and pick it up the next day.....the guys at the dealership know the mechanic at the indy shop and they say he's a good mechanic and spoke highly of him....no trash talk from the indy shop about the dealership either....

just to clarify....Old Road Harley is the dealership....the indy shop I'm talking about is Hard Luck Choppers in Valencia, CA....they are both good shops with great people....if it wasn't for the drop off and pick up the next day at the indy shop it would be a close call mostly.....
but I do notice that the dealership will throw in more work without charging me at times....to be fair, they are a big dealership and can afford to do so.....I know the owner of the indy shop and he's a great guy and the mechanic is very knowledgable but he's the only mechanic there.....
