HD NASCAR Sponsorship?
Would Harleymake a good sponsor for NASCAR? I think so. It would be a great American Company sponsoring a great American sport. Rusty Wallace had a Harley-Davidson/Miller Lite Sponsored car 5-6 years ago. I think sole sponsorship would be a great promotional tool for the Motor Company. Just think of the cool paint scheme. What are your thoughts?

Geoff,
I think that's a great promo idea for the MoCo. But, I'll bet the VP of Marketing & Mysterious Strategies would use it to sponsor Toyota[&o][&o]!

Being a Nascar fan I've thought about it and think it would be a great time for Harley to do it. They could have a HD setup and sales area at each of the races, sponser a car, offer various special packages at he races as well as offering contests/drawings etc. Quite frankly I'm surprised they haven't done this already. I guess they're too occupied with developing new strange looking rides and overpriced accessories.

Don't let theslowing domestic economy fool you. Harley iscash rich (check their financials). They'vehad 11 straight years of sales growth. Only problem is, corporations typicallycutpromotional expenses in lean times.Harley shouldstay the course. They need to make inroads with Gen Xers and Yers, and theyneed to stay attuned to baby-boomers rhythms and values. As a marketing weenie, I believeNASCAR sponsorship would benefit Harley tremendously.

I agree even with the economy the way it is, I dont believe HD is hurting and getting into Nascar as a sole sponsor of a car would be great ...I think a SE paint scheme on a car would look great.. or a SE Nascar scheme on a bike..

Maybe divert some of the splurge of TV ad $ they've been spending at a rate of $100K's or more per half minute. Also wonder what the tab ison the huge number of annoying pop-up ads that MoCo has purchased all over the web.
