Default High Beams

What's with the rookies on bikes who have their high beams on during the daytime? IMHO it does not make it easier to be seen, low beam will be just fine thankyou. Everytime I see this I find that it just makes it harder to judge how fast the bike is coming towards me. Not to mention how it seems to hurt the eyeballs. If the cagedrivers can't see you with yer lows on what difference is hi going to make?

ANYthing you can do to make cagers aware of your presence is worth it. I don't care if they can calculate my speed or not, as long as they don't have the lame excuse of "I didn't see him" there's hope they won't kill you. I've ordered a modulator and H4 bulb for my chopper, It may hurt their eyes but they will know I'm coming, I hope!
I just got peggedby a left turning teen on a clear country road and am still in a cast from it. No rookie after 45 yrs riding!

your perspective of oncoming cycles is different than those who have never ridden. i hated it when GM came out with daytime running lights. then motorcycles blended in more and are harder to see.

Oh you've noticed the bikes with the high beams on? Good, that means they're working.

i agree plus why waste your low beam first.anything a rider can do to be seen is better than not.51 years of rideing.

Always have it on in daylight. Rather them (and you) be pissed and SEE ME, then not. Visibility is everything.

I chose to run mine on low beam. I do believe that the hi beam is seen easier but to me it's a toss up. Not only is it perhaps easier to see but it can also pi$$ off the wrong guy that might tend to suffer from road rage syndrom.!!! (No more than my opinion.)

My instructor told me to do it, so I did and Icontinue to do so. He's in his 60's and has ridden most of his life. If itkeeps him safer, I'm hoping it will do the same for me.

Another asinine post...

Don't know the your definition of rookie

I ride with mine on high during daylight hours because it is easier to see one head light on bright than one low beam and two driving lights Don't believe me? Have some one you know ride toward you both ways and have them tell you when they see you, then compare.

I want to be seen.

Number one reason people give when they hit motorcycles " I didn't see them "
