How long will it last?

RE: How long will it last?
It really depends... it is not unsommon for a HD to go well over 100k... but we, as HD riders, seem to rarely keep the same bike long enough to put those kind of miles on them...we seem to have to trade for the newest thing... I know my bike is a '05, and I love it, and would hate to lose it... but, I wouldn't mind having a second one...

RE: How long will it last?
My 06 FLSTC is approaching 50,000 miles and still running strong. I did changemy cams to gear driven at 38,000, and other than routine maintence, have done nothing else to it. I am expecting 90-100,000 before having to do any engine work, and will install a big bore kit when the time comes.

RE: How long will it last?
I know of guys whose mechanical odometer has turned over to zero.
With regular service and good care, there's no reason why a bike like that shouldn't last 100.000 miles or more before needing engine rebuild.
And then last much more.
An air cooled engine is actually TOUGHER than a water cooled, unless you treat it really bad.

I plan on giving my bike the best possible maintenance, and hoping it lasts a long time. I was just curious, because I do not recall reading to much about bike with over 20 or 30K miles on them, which made me wonder if they were even made to last that long.
