You can still find some shops that charge 40-60$ per hour for the prep work + materials and tax. Problem is that the small shops are becoming few due to environmental regulations.

Check local first and check rep of plater.

Here is a mail order outfit: http://www.superiorchrome.com/

You can find some guys at the Caswell forum that might do it. See: http://forum.caswellplating.com/forumdisplay.php?f=10.

Some of the folks here may have other sources.

Hope this helps.

There was a small company that was sellinga kit for small parts, it worked in a 5 gallon bucket but I have no idea how well it works. I have never used them and I understand the chemicals are highly poisonous and carcinogenic.

This guy is in my little town right out side of Ft. Lauderdale. I stop in there to get parts for my buffer. OK guy. I do know that he sells big equipment also. I would think it is much less hassle just to find a good place to do it.

As far as doing just a few pieces. I have seen this same type of behavior before. It is very much like the drug commercials.

Once you start with a few bolts, than you go to a few pieces, than bigger pieces, than major pieces till you run out of bike. What are you going to do than? Naturally, buy another new different type of bike and the cycle repeats itself. I think the only cure for this is either marriage with kids or death.

Step away from the bike & put your hands in your pockets….. I should take a photo of my garage and you will know what your life would be like with too much chrome! QVC, Heroin, Crack, et al. have nothing on chrome!
