Default rechrome vs powdercoating

I am thinking about having the Fury 12" over girder that came on my chopper either Powder coated Blue almost a purple
along with the wheels rims a purple and spokes a light blue

that or just go ahead and have them rechromed

so what do you think

Powder coat

or

Chrome ?

Powder coat!
I think someone might be a TAD biased [sm=lol.gif]

Honestly either is a great option, if it's acoin toss either go for what's unique or less expensive

with the motor being done in a two tone blue
and any sheet metal done in Chrome it will stand out !
as it is now the new motor is completely blacked out with chrome and looks great

I am going to try and dupicate the paint and mold job when it comes back from the sand blasters
as this is a complete restoration not just a cut and paste job

I told myself hen I started this project I wanted to get it to where it was in running condition (new motor) for under a grand including purchase price and I came in under budget so now I have the go ahead to do what I want

so far my biggest expence will be for the powder coat and paint as it is going back true old school metal flake

Cool Bike. Now thats what a Chopper is supposed to look like. I like the idea of the powder coating but one thing you are going to have to check is were the links areconnecting the Girder to the triple tree head. I'm not sure what the tolerance's are their its been a long time since Ive been around a Girder, I'm pretty sure that if you powder coat it you will have to get it back down to clean metal so you don't have a clearance problem. Not sure how thick you're coating would be but back when I was powder coating you could end up with up to a.050+ interference fit between two parts which might not be too bad but considering you would have both sides that could be close to a 1/8 of an inch of interference. Other then that they both would look good its pretty much up to what you would like the best.

I guess you might be right Rax.

Here's a few pics of powder coated springers. I know they aren't quite the same, and they're black, but it may give you a better visual.
