Don't forget that supposedly Gerald Morelock had one beer prior to riding home. The Lane spin doctor's will build this to some type of contributory accident. I hope I'm wrong and Lane spends some time behin bars

Don't drink and drive. (Don't drink at all)
Don't care for drunk drivers, in fact, if you have too many, call me, I've hauled several buddies home from the local establishment, free of charge, in the middle of the night. They don't need the $$$$ of a DUI, much less the debacle Billy finds himself in.
Billy Lane makes some nice rides, but does not make him above the law or below the law.
All that said, what is bothering me most about this thread - pay attention here folks, as much as I dislike what happened, - this is America, and our system is "supposed" to function from the position, "You are innocent until proven guilty" Mostposts have him guilty and in jail, and there hasn't been a trial yet. That is not the America I was helping defend for 7 yrs in the Navy. Due process, due process, due process. I am not a lawyer, but I vote for the "rule of law".
Would you hire an attorney who didn'tuse everything available to you to help you?
Difference between a disaster and a cryin' shame. Disaster is a van with 5lawyers going off a cliff. Cryin' shame -there was room for 3 more.

Actually, Morelock was legally impaired.

While Morelock's being legally impaired will certainly be brought up by attorney's in both the criminal and civil trial, it is still not a viable excuse for Lane.

Morelock was licensed; Lane was not

Morelock was on the corect side of the road; Lane was not

Using Morelocks's impairment as an excuse as to the cause of the accident, is akin to 8 year olds, when they say "But HE Started It !!!"

I agree. The simple issue is whether or not Lane killed Morelock. The answer is yes. Case closed. Send Lane to jail where he can start his new lifeas bubba'sgirlfriend.

Fair point Gump. Coming from a LE background, I tend to look at the details and form an opinion before trial - cause I have no illusions about the system routinely or justifiably convicting many obviously guilty criminals. So be it - we still do what we do, as best we can.
