RE: Diagnosed today with prostrate cancer
Fearis normal, but get yourself well informed and a 2nd opinion if you don't completely trust that physician's call.
You found out early which is good. Now it's time to put up the good fight. If you have good family and friends, it's time to get them into your recovery plan. Their strength can be come yours.
I wish you the best and a speedy recovery.

Sparky,
Good luck brother and my prayers are with you. At least you were able to find it early way too many men don't get it checked and never find out till its too late, luckily you did the responsible thing and they found it early. Good luck and do what you have to do to get through it.

My father just went through this 2 years ago, he was 72, and is doing very well now. This may just be a blessing,so many men never get checked until its to late.I am 50 and because of my father just had my first exam last August, yes it drove the message home real quick. We will keep you in our prayers. "God Speed and a fast recovery"...Tim & Tracy

RE: Diagnosed today with prostrate cancer
Keep your spirits up. I'm a five year prostate cancer survivor, and I think several other "survivors"have already contacted you directly. The Gleason score goes up to 10, so a score of 7 is not that good. It's a measurement of how far it has spread and how energetic it is, but prostate cancer thankfully grows very slowly.
I would advise that you get a second and perhaps a third opinion before you decide on a course of action, but don't let it go forever. I had my prostate removed, which has a longer known prognosis than the seed implants, but that was five years ago and these things change over time. In the end, I went to three specialists to get their opinions and then decided on which course to follow. Prostate cancer is very treatable and all men will evenutally get it if they live long enough. Mine was discovered by a fluke at the age of 53, and I'm grateful every day that the doctor caught it.

My Gleason score was 3+4=7 rather than 4+3=7. I have read that with the smaller number first that is better than the reverse. Still not sure how it all works but going back for another consultaion Tuesday and will try and find out. Thanks for posting. Again doc said since only one of the 12 biopsies they took came back postitive that that is another good sign.

Sparky - sorry to hear about you trouble. My grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago, and honestly he had it treated and it went away - full recovery. I have faith that you can get through it in one piece, a lot of guys do!
