My uncle was diagnosed, over 15 years ago, and underwent removal.
He's almost 90 now.
Positive attitude is EVERYTHING.
And information. Second and third opinion are paramount. get also information on alternative treatments.
I wish you all the possible good.
You'll be as new in a very short time.

Toughen up and take it like a man Sparky. Ya want to look back on this as a mild inconvienience in life and be able to tell the stories such as, you prefered to watch the football game during the surgery or you were messin with the nurse who was in charge of the scalpal tray. Or how aboutthis; you road your scooter home that afternoon. 8-)

My father died of it in the 1970's, but he had ignored the symptoms for several years. My brother and my neighbor both had the radioactive seeds done about seven years ago and have had no reoccurence of the cancer. I will probably get it sometime in the future due to hereditary issues. Every case is different. My prayers go to you. Stay positive, this is survivable.

I was diaganosed with prostate cancer in Oct. of 2001. They did 12 biopsies on me also. Two from each of the 6 areas of the prostate. Mine came back with cancer in 5 of the 6 areas. My Gleason was 7 also. The Gleason is a rateing they give as to how fast the cancer is growing. My overall prognosis was a stage 2C cancer with a 55% chance of recovery if I had a total removal. I did on Feb. 21,2002 after having chemo to try to shink it. I have been cancer free now since that time and I thank my Lord for it. Ihave donelectures on the subject for theAmerican Cancer Societyand I always tell the men to learn as much as possible about the subject on their own. For me it was a life changing experience. I had an unusually rough recovery period which I will not go into. I did make up my mind while I was in the hospital to do something I had been promising myself to do for over 35 years. It was to ride my motorcycle coast to coast. I did as soon as my doctor released me. My advice to you is learn as much as you can about your cancer and make your own decision. BTW that impotance thing can be whipped no sweat. Best of luck whatever you do and God bless.

Hey Sparky, I had a complete removal 4 years ago. Its a tuff decision to make. Do like the brothers say get 2nd and 3rd opinion. Do it now. The recovery was tuff for me, but i recovered and last checkup was 2 months ago and completeley free of cancer. Im not trying to scare you just telling you the truth about my experiance. You will be fine and cancer free. This cancer spreads fast if not treated. As far as sex, well let me just say viagra did not work for me and neither did the other two brands. So i have to take the shots. Talk to your doc in full detail about sex after surgery and the treatment for it. I am having sex and riding my bike and life is good.I had great familey support just like you and beleive me that is the most important part of your recovery. Dude just do it and save your life. In the end you will be glad you did. But remember everybodys experiance with this cancer is totally different, for some viagra is great and it works, for others it does not, but there are other treatment for ed. Bottom line just get it done it will save your life. Talk to your doc about all the treatment and then make a decision and go with it. Good luck bro and Gods speed.
