RE: Diagnosed today with prostrate cancer
Sparky,
Best wishes, bro. Get it done though...I have two friends who've recovered fully from it. They've never discussed the sex thing with me and I haven't asked. But I do know that they're here with their friends and family today, ride their bikes alot and have found ways to keep smiling. I'd be scared too but I'd give up lots of things I thought were once important just to see my kids keep growing up.
Good luck and God Bless.

RE: Diagnosed today with prostrate cancer
I was diagnosed with it 4 years ago. For some reason it was never more than a brief inconvenience. I was told it was a common occurance with mature men and easily cured. I had the seed implants done and am happy to say I am still cancer free.
Get some viagra and ride on.
Good luck,

Sorry to hear about that, I would get a second opinion because it is a quality of life issue. But you doctor is probably correct. A PSA of 4.0 isn't terrible but needs to be addressed...soon. . You are young and that will work for you. Viagra will help the sexual aspect of this condition and doesn't mean you are out of the game completely. Things will change for a while and it will be difficult, but not the end of the road with some adjustment. My grandfather and his brother were both diagnosed at around the same time with the same problem as you, I don't know their PSA count. Both had the same treatment that was removal of the prostate. John, my grandfathers brother, has passed because of the cancer. My grandfather is now 91 years young and still walks to the doughnut shop every day. Both were diagnosed in there early 80's. With proper medical care and your young age, and a positive attitude, I would suspect you will be fine. So when you get better.....I said, WHEN YOU GET BETTER! I would love to meet you and go for a ride to my grandfathers house in Southern California so you can meet him and the other 10 - 15, 90 year old + guys we eat doughnuts with, half of whom have been through exactly what you are about to deal with. So do what you need to do, but keep in mind I am looking forward to our ride.....

Both my Dad and father in-law were diagnosed about a year apart. One opted for the surgery the other seed implantation. Happy to say they are both cancer free 5 years later. Good luck.

RE: Diagnosed today with prostrate cancer
Caught early, the recovery rate for Prostrate Cancer is very high. By what you have said, it sounds like they caught yours in plenty of time, stay positive (hard to do sometimes, I know), that will help you more than you know.

A good friend is going through the same thing. Just had a complete removal and so far so good. Everything is still working. It was a tough choice for him as the possible results were very scary. They are waiting for tests to come back now after 3 months.
Hope all goes well foryou.
