rounded external torx bolt

RE: rounded external torx bolt
would have to have a 'screwy' name wouldn't it. never seen one like it before. i'm surprised i didn't round it off the first 3 times i used a ext. torx bit on it. fortunately it only rounded off the outer edges, so the 10mm socket was able to get some grip on it. still gonna replace it though - can't have such an imperfection, you know.

That is not an "external Torx". It is a common 12pt socket. Maybe you were trying to use the wrong socket. If it was one of the pad pins that you rounded off, you need a 12 pt 1/4" socket.

Hmmmm, the external Torx toolsare identified with an E suffix to the tool size, I.E. E10, E15 etc. rather than a T. I think I might have used my E tool to remove my front brake caliper recently. It worked, maybe the ferry screw just wasn't yet melded into the hole yet.
