I just bought a 06 FXDB. I have never bought anything from a dealer so i dont know how to deal with them. I called the dealer and gave them the vin # to see if the bike was under factory warranty and it is untill march. How much should i pay for an extended warranty??? what is a fair price??? I know they make commission and i dont want to get ripped...

Seriously, when has the last time you heard a HD motor fail?

 

This issue has been brought up several times in the fourms, you use the search function and find more info about it. In my opinion I would not buy the warranty. I have never used one and they cost thousands, it is a money maker for the dealer not the consumer.

You should be contacted by HD. I would consider it. I bought one with my SE UC. Others may not think it necessary, but for me it is worth peace of mind. Besides on the 07's & 08's CVO's they have had some engine seal problems. You never know. My friend had to have his 07 SE UC overhauled, but was done at HD expense. That was worth the price of an extra 5 year coverage in itself.
