Booking Sturgis Campsite? Who recommends what site?
Hey guys...been wanting to go for years and i'm just now booking my first trip down to Sturgis. I know this subject has been beatin to death over the years and apologize for the repost of sorts, but need to know what are the best campsites if a guy wants to get some sleep after partying in town. A place where security is good and I don't have to be concerned about my bike while i'm out partying.
I have heard Hog Heaven is pretty good, but would like some more suggestions before I go and book for me and a coupe of girlfriends who are riding down with me. Gotta be a place with good hot showers, preferably some decent washrooms, and a secure camp site that keeps an eye on bikes and gear. I'd also consider a hotel/motel or small cabin if anyone has or knows of one at this time frame.
We plan on taking in some concerts while we're down there (Skynyrd and ZZ Top) andknow where to party.
Thanks in advance to everyone who chimes in.

I have stayed at Elkview camopground in Sturgis, the last two years and highly recommend it. It is not as wild as the Chip, but you can still party and get some rest for ridin the next day. Some places you have to pay for showers, the last time I stayed at the Chip in 04 it was $5 per shower.Excellent bathroom and shower houses(that you don't pay extra for)They have a nice big barn with food and beer. You can even buy a steak from them and cook it yourself. Also I recomend buying the pass for the BUS, if you are going downtown to drink. The cops are ruthless, you can get it cheaper if you order it on-line. Best site I have stayed at. Never worried about the bike or my stuff. Here is the link http://www.elkviewcampground.com/

Hidden Valley Campground in Deadwood is great. Stayed there last year on our trip in June and loved it. It's a few miles south of Deadwood on 385 and I beleive they have a shuttle going to Deadwood and Sturgis during the rally, I think they have one without the rally as well that just goes to Deadwood. It's a beautiful campground and the people are great.

I would like as much info on this as possible myself. I have never been, but thinking aboout going this year with a group of friends. I would really like to find a motel or cabin that was close (relativley speaking). I have searched on the net some, but i figure the best advice would be from people that have been there several times in the past.

I have stayed at Glencoe campground twice and the Buffalochip campground 4 times, Glenco was much cleaner and quieter, the chip had more of a party atmosphere, never seen trouble at either one, felt secure at both. I prefer the chip, the wife prefers Glencoe. I would recommend being back into camp before 4 or after 10 as the traffic coming thru town inbetween thosehours just plain sucks

Ibooked us in today at Hog Heaven and might take an RV down if I can get my buddy to haul it for me. We're also talking aboutriding out a few days early and heading down through Denver and Flagstaff into California. From there we could enoy a couple real wicked coast runs like Hwy 36 from Red Bluff to Eureka before heading back upNorth via a Ferry trip across to Victoria and Vancouver. Should be a fun haulas long asthe 2 girls i'm touring with are up for it. I'll know in a few days but can tell you they're bothdie hard babes who love to ride. I'm soooo looking forward to this trip. Thanks for the links folks. Checked a few of them out and will land wherever we land each day. At least we now have a base to start from.
Cheers!

Stay at Glencoe or Buffalo Chip if you want to party hard. A more relaxed place is Recreation Springs Resort in Lead, SD. This where I prefer to stay.

I stayed at the B-chip in 06 and at Glencoe this past year. I had much more fun at Glencoe. Easier to get in and out of than the Chip, its quieter, cleaner, and lots more t!tty. I think the Buffalo Chip books better concerts and in my opinion, has a better venue for them
