Power for Garmin

Power for Garmin
Now that I have the mounting system all figured out, I would like to inquire what is the best way to provide power to a Garmin GPS system. I have a Heritage Classic. While the battery life for the Garmin is about 5 hours, I think I would like to find a way to power and charge while riding. I already have a trickle charger connected to the battery that I keep on year round. Wonder if there was a way to utilize that same plug for the GPS unit. Kind of using the plug for both winter and summer now.

Don't know about your bike, but on the Touring bikes there is power available in the headlight shell. Might want to look at a wiring diagram to see if you have that, since it saves a lot of trouble routing wires under the tank toward the battery.

I don't know the best way, but I ran the power cable under the tank and put one of those weather resistant plugs like whats on the batter tender lead, at both ends. Now I can easily remove the mount when I want (leaving just the small handlebar clamp) and the plug has a cap and I can unplug it by the battery for the tender too. Try searching zumoforums.com too.
