V&H Quit Baffles
My neighbor across the street from wants to kill me.
Threated to do so and to do my bike in with a bat.....Trust me, it was all I could do to keep me from having himpull slivers from his rectical cavity.
However, my V&H Straightshot slip-ons are rather loud and he has something of a ligit beef.
So my question is:
how are the quiet baffles - do they make a big difference?
I have seen in other posts that they sound deeper, which is nice, but how quiet is quiet by V&H standards???

They made a big difference with my sideshots which were loud as hell with the regular baffles in. Put the "quiet" baffles in and brought the noise down to a reasonable level IMO. The only reason I did it was cause the sideshots exit right next to my right ear. If they were longer pipes exiting at the rear of the bike, I wouldn't have cared. But ear plugs were not going to be an option for me so I chose the quiet baffles which worked out much better than I thought they would. Still got great "harley" sound but my right eardrum works a lot better now.
Can't speak for the slip-on's, but I'm happy with my side-shots...

The quiet baffles do make a difference. Yes it's only a few decibels, but the way sound is measured a few decibels lower might be enough to make a difference. I put them in my BSS and a few days ago I left it running and went back into the house to get my sunglasses. I barely could hear the bike inside the house. But it sounds really nice with a low rumble - not quiet, but not grossly loud either. Now with the stock baffles, the pipes were LOUD. Everyone turned to look as I rode by. Now I don't draw as much attention and my neighbors have never complained.

Thanks Gadget.
The slip ons are very loud, especially when you get on it.
A blip of the throttle and it cracks, just idling sounds like some giant beating a drum. Now don't get me wrong - I love that but.......
Damn neighbor, just wish he would go deaf or something.....
I might just have to try the quiet baffles - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I like the quiet baffles low rumble and better performance with the added back pressure. It also stopped the decel popping which was driving me crazy. To tell you the truth once you get a few miles on them there is not much difference in the level of sound. Farns great part of the world you are in. I have done some camping up in North Bay, Sudbury area. Ride Safe it is probably on a snowmobile this time of year.

RE: V&H Quit Baffles
LOL...That is me.
The guy complaining is off his stick.
My neighbor right beside me drives a 2000 Softail Standard with SE II (old, loud style) exhaust, his son drives his old '87 Sporty with drag pipes, and together we have about 8 friends, some scarier looking than me, others crazier than a bed bug, coming and going between our two houses, all hours of the day. Not uncommon to have 5 bikes rumble in for a beer at 2:30 in the morning.
Fella who does the threatening is OK with all of THAT...Just does not like me leaving at 7:30 am on sunday to go for coffee at the local shop with my dad...Tough biker type that I am....[8D]lol...
