do you live the 'harley life style'
just was reading thru "what do you think of posers", and in there i saw a statement refering to people who want the "harley life style".
wtf
i am really tempted to say that a very small percentage of those in this forum have the 'harley life style'.
like i work for the man 5 days a week, have 3 kids, 4 cars (one's a van), a camper, a home in the burbs. i rode 7500 miles, road to sturgis, road in the rain, etc.
seems to me, and correct me if i am wrong, but the harley life style means something along this line:
- no job
- not married, but could be shackin
- not kids you admit to
- no car
- definitely not in the military
- don't live in a house, at least not one owned by you
in other words, complete and total freedom,
and irresponsibility
and selfishness
and aimlessness
with no future
so do you live the 'harley life style'?
or would you say that you like just like to ride along with liking the way harleys look.
yeh - there is something to be said for the american icon stuff.
but i want toride first
and own a harley second
so are you a doctor?
lawyer?
banking or other financial guy?
technical person?
other white collar?
plumber?
carpenter?
electrician?
mechanic?
other blue collar?
own your business (white or blue)?
retired?
temp out of work?
military?
stay at home (taking care of kids and/or aging parents)?
don't care a hoot about the harley life style?
live the harley life style?
personally, idon't give a hoot about the harley life style whatever that is
and one of the real reasons that i ride is because it is as close as i can get to being that real american hero/icon - the cowboy - riding his horse into the sunset
(does that mean i wanna be like an icon on an icon, ugh!)

RE: do you live the 'harley life style'
I own a motorcycle and I prefer to ride it over driving a car/truck...all my friends own motorcycles and most of them prefer to ride over driving a car/truck,partying is high on our priority list and going our own way is too. FTW!!
Harley's are our preferred branddue to being brought up around them, able to service them ourselves, tradition. My bike isn't a show piece or a toy and the only other Harley items I own are a couple t-shirts and a jacket I got off E-bay for a third of the price.
The "MOCO's" new commercial is so damn lame..and I quote "You don't have to ride a Harley to live the lifestyle, and its easier now to buy one with our low interest rate"...Marketing genius that has made cookie-cutter-leather-clad lemmings out of so many folks..
RANT OVER, have a nice day!!

RE: do you live the 'harley life style'
You can buy the Harley lifestyle. It's in the Motorclothes catalog.
Speaking of the lifestyle...I oncesaw aguy get out ofhis car, put on leather chaps anda jacketand then walk into a bar. I was sitting in my truck waiting for a friend in the parking lot. I started laughing so hard that I accidentally bumped the horn and the guy saw me. He was embarrassed and avoided eye contact when we were in the bar.

For me, it's not about "partying" but, I don't begrudge hard working folks who do.

The Harley lifestyle is an advertising image. I think a better thread name would have been, do you live the biker lifestyle. It's ironic isn't it? For $25k you too can look and dress like a drifter with no job and no future.
