I am reinstating an old program on Brain Bucket. Starting today, I am donating 1/10 of our advertising space and inventory to a bonafide charity. I would like your help here on HDF picking the first charity of the year.

So far, I've thought of the PGR, BACA, Children's Miracle Network, and daniel.

If a charity you would like to see supported isn't listed here, please suggest on in this thread. A link to a website would also be very helpful. We may support it later on down the line.

Also, how would you feel about us asking for donations on Brain Bucket? Do you think it's better just to direct our traffic to their website, or try to collect donations?

To me, this would be a personal thing. I'd choose the one that means the most to you.

What about St. Jude Children's Hospital? That is definetley a worthy cause.

 

Being a member of the PGR I appreciate your including them as a possible charity. However, I don't feel any of the members of the PGR are in need of financial help and they are capable of maintaining their own purpose. If I'm not overlooking something I think there are many charities that are more in need offinancialaid.

 

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I decided to make this a democratic thing vs a personal thing because I want my readers to feel like they have some input and that their reading Brain Bucket actually helps a charity.

Children's Miracle Network all the way! So many children are helped via this wonderful charity, Here in Indianapolis we have Riley's Children Hospital, and I know that you can hardly find a group of more than 5 people whose life's have not been changed by this wonderful Hospital, which is of course part of the Children'd Miracle Network

 

Fisher House - Provides support and housing to families of soldiers while they are being treated at military hospitals. It's a good one.

Ok, how about The Floating Hospital here in Boston. It's a pediatric cancer hospital. My wife is a pediatric nurse practitioner there and deals with kids dieing of cancer every day. They also work with the MakeA Wishfoundation for the kids. She's had two of her kids die in the past 3 weeks. Brutal job. They do a lot of fundraising to get money to help make the kids a little more comfortable.
