What I've found that works real well, takes the heat of the motors, and works well with polished aluminum. A product called Marine Polish from "Starbrite". It's in a blue plastic bottle. Found it at a West Marine, most other boat supply stores should have it. Ditto on the "garage towels" also just inherited a new batch of old dish towels from the kitchen.

NEVR DULL is a great product. I pretty much swear by that stuff... Quick jobs I use a spray wax/cleaner that is fast as can be and I don't have to worry, because it is made especially for chrome. There are so many dedicated products, why risk it?

The best chrome product I have used is "Chromes" by Belgom.

I **** on the chrome and wipe if off with my dirty socks!
Works great and it's free.
I gotta wash my shop towels, wife washes socks.
If I run outta cleaner, I drink another few beers.

never used windex, always use a detailing spray at autozone with a microfiber cloth. works amazingly.

Windex, and glass cleaners in GENERAL work great, but leave no protection.I use Turtle Wax Chrome polish regularly to put a protective film on. IMHO it makes it easier to get bug doo and road slime off. But then, I don't know much 'bout chrome.
