What happens when a dealership dies?

RE: What happens when a dealership dies?
There is only one dealer here in Tucson. At present ,he has hardly any bikes on the floor. I know he is building a very large new building right off I-10. I'm thinking it's probably easier to transfer them in there shipping box's and thats why.One problem I see for this new site is access. If you're heading north to Phx. you have to get off and do a u-turn to get back to it. It also appears that there is no entrance from the frontage road. That may change when it's finished. I almost never see the same salesmen more than 2x's . Always new ones. With the economy being what it is,I hope he survives this move.

Yeah. That's been on their front page for about three months now. So, it's not like they've updated their page recently.

RE: What happens when a dealership dies?
In all honesty guys Biggs had inflated prices on their bikes. I went shoping there for bikes twice once at the end of 2006 and then at the begining of 2007. I found that by far SD Harley had the best prices around, plus the people are great. I must say that I am in no way affiliated with SD Harley and have good friends at both dalerships. With that said personaly I prefered SD Harley when it comes to bike purchases. It was the first place that I found out that the myth that you can't haggle price on a Harley was not true.

Up here in Mass. we have several big box dealers. I don't know how they are doing but whenI went to check out bike prices back in September they were less then accomidaing (sp).
My closest dealer is 50 years old, run buy the same family (all women) for those years and only have room of 6 bikes in the show room if they squeeze them in. They sell at msrp, free delivery to 30 miles, free 1000 mile check, 2 hours free labor on anything that they install that you bought from them. Oh and no deliver, documention fees or set up charges. They are very fair and sponser the local HOG chapter big time. Have a great following. They don't even have a web sight for the store. MONTY"S HD of West Bridgewater

RE: What happens when a dealership dies?
Well I went to the dealership this afternoon after work. It was full of people I didn't know working there now.
I walked right up to one of them and asked what the deal was. He told me that the dealership wasn't shutting down. They're a high-volume dealer--although, with their prices, I don't see how, but more on that in due course--and the guy said Harley wouldn't let them go under. They might force it into receivership as the major creditor, and then find someone else to run it, but they wouldn't close it down. But, in any event, he said it wasn't closing, but that a lot of the people were fired, and a bunch of people from the Oceanside location put in to take their place.
I told him I was looking at a used road Glide they had, and he said they have some new ones coming in, and I should come by and see them. I replied that, well, they had a reputation for being inflexible on their prices, and that if I was ready to buy again, I'd probably go to New York Mike's place down on Claremont. He said to please give them a chance for my business.
So, I guess the guy I was talking to on Monday was full of sour grapes.
By the way, they did ask who I spoke to. I told them that I wasn't gonna rat on anybody, and I wouldn't answer the question.
I don't know what's going on, but in talking to a friend of mine, he said there was a similar deal at Biggs 5 years ago or so, when they fired nearly everybody at the Oceanside location.
