Shovelhead Bob said it could also be inside lining of the tank starting to peel. Gonna have to get the flashlight out to see inside the tank.

Nah, ain't you got a lighter...
My manual said something about if you overfill the tank then the pressure that is created under normal conditions has nowhere to go, so it will blow out where ever it can. If the vent tube is plugged, well then...where ever it can.

Okay, I talked to a tech at the stealer who said it could be a gas cap not venting properly as well. I rode the bike to the gas station, filled it up without overfilling it, and took for a nice spin down PCH. Georgeous afternoon here by the way. No problems, no overflowing, nothing at all so I have to sum it up as it was overfilled by me at the gas station on the morning. I mean it rode perfectly today. Whew. Now it's time for the 25K mile service one of these days.
