Right now in the southeast, they got 0 down, no payments for 6 months and are pretty hungry to deal, especially 07 stock. Sounds like a pretty good time to me

RE: When to buy new Harley?
This time of year and the end of this month (december) is great.
I think you are in Alabama and that means year-round riding.
But sales still slow down during winter month's, even in the south.
The end of the month is always best, so if your buddy can't buy the end of december, wait until the end of Jan '08.
good luck.

Just bought a pair. A Deluxe for Wife, an E-Glide for me. Here in So. Cal. the riding season is year long, so there isn't really a good or bad time to buy. We paid MSRP for the scoots, and got a $600 credit on 'goodies' for each bike, an additional $200 for clothes, and 15% off on parts for the bikes when we bought them. Still cost just over $40,000 for both out the door, but what the hell.....

And that's a mighty nice looking $40K stackyou got in front of your house Screwball
I've always questioned the reasoning behind buying left over or previous yearvehicles when thecurrent yearones are available.Sure you save some money butyou've still just bought a vehiclethat is a year old when its new.
5 years from the purchase no one will care what time of year you bought it, they will look at its value based on its age! 6 instead of 5.
you see my bike is an 07 (bought it in may 07) and you can still buy new 07's, but they are still both 07's and will be the rest of their days.

RE: When to buy new harley?
I bought mine in early May. Probably not the best time to get a good deal, but the best time to make the most out of riding season. Middle January would make sense for the best price, as they are probably not selling much then.

RE: When to buy new harley?
I didn't look close enough when quoting about the 07's. These are both 08's. Wife is GaGa over Red. Her 04 Nightrain is almost the same red, as is her Thunderbird. I had the choice of Black, Blue, or the matching red one. Two neighbors have blue E-Glides, and my Dyna is black......so
The two bikes were $42,400 out the door including exhaust, intake, and re-map. Her bike got the "essentials Kit" windshield, sissy bar, and crash bars. I got the riders back rest.
All the 'toys

Just before the new models come out because they're trying to clear the showroom floor and January, which is traditionaly their slowest month.

Buy in the winter...that is your ONLY chance to strike a deal.
Chances are you wont get money off so look for add in's that dont cost the dealer as much as the tag...backrest, screen, shiny stuff!
Good luck
