H.O.G. Members- Some Advice/Opin Please
Officers, or members. If you have a few members that are seriouslydisruptive to the chapter, What would be your process in this situation?
And any of you officers that have had this situation, what did you do?
thanks

We have had members who were a hazard on group rides and were taken to one side and counciled about their habits/techniques. Some did not realize they were doing it and were grateful for the outside opinion. There have been a few who remain convinced they are always in the right so they decided they would no longer ride with the group.
We have some who just like to complain. We ask that if they have a complaint they should also have a solution and be willing to put their time and effort into implementing it. For some reason, complaints have dropped off.
Your chapter officers should have access to the Chapter materials on the HOG website. It has a couple of short pubs on dealing with people. Some just want recognition. Seems a lot of people on Harleys have this problem. HOG offers suggestions on dealing with the ones who have the "look at me" syndrome.
When all else fails your chapter officers should take it up with the sponsoring dealer. The dealer has the final say on everything the chapter does and may ban any person they wish.

No riding issues. These "three amigos" rarely participate in any events, never volunteer, except to be road captains or safety and they have never done that. But they attend the business meetings and question EVERYTHING, complain without ANY solution, and disrupt the meeting to the point that some really GOOD members have said they don't need this crap and quit.
I understand the dealership manager has the last say, and that the board can vote and take it to him and ask for suspension. I wonder how long you wait to do that? Do you give them a chance to get their crap together, warn them, three strikes, etc? It has been 4 meetings already that have turned into their wierd tirads. It's like they are bored and have nothing better to do.
I swear they would not last 20 minutes in a club. But there is a big difference with a chapter! If it were up to ME, I would have already said hit the road, and don't come back. Do they get chances or can you oust them like right now?

At the next "meeting" uif they are dispruptive again just stand up and speak your mind.
