Last time I flipped off a horn-honkin tailgater, it turned out to be a client. He was just tryin' to be sociable. Seein' how it's generally bad form to flip off the paying customers, it kinda cured me of the habit.

True story: just this spring, a woman I work with was coming home from the airport with her faimly in a large van. Her husband was driving, and somehow got into a road rage incident with some dude in a pickup truck. I don't know what all happened, but I do know this: her husband (being a real man) decided to confront the dude face to face. He stopped the van and stepped out.

The coward in the pickup stood on the gas and ran over her husband killing him instantly. And yes the police got the guy. And hell yes I totally support the death penalty for such a cowardly act of homocide.

So the coward gets to live, and world is less one real man. Not to mention his children now get to grow up without a father. That's justice?

Neither a motorcycle nor a human body is ANY challenge against a 2,000 lb plus automobile....or for that matter some nut with a gun. If some cager tries to ram you on your bike, then what?

I vote to be cool, keep my gestures to myself, begin evasive actions and let it go.

I wonder if retaliating just makes some folks angry enough to get a gun or be more determined than ever to inflict maximum damage next time they meet a biker? Is some OTHER BIKER going to pay big time (...even with his/her life) tomorrow because I went off on some cager today?

For what it's worth...
Every time you "step aside" and let scum improperly coerce you... you help in the creation of a tyrant. Better to let him "pass" ? Pass the problem onto someone else?

Pull over off to the side, allowing opportunity to the idiot to drive on. Pe prepared. If the asshat really has a problem he will make his move.

Oh yah.... "We roll different here in SoCal" Punks are ****ing Punks. Same everywhere. Punks learn only by tangling with Non-Punks, because they get their asses broke off.

Things aren't as simple as some would have you believe.

No, I won't leave it at that. The only reason I said anything about SoCal is because that is where I am. I don't know how it is where you are. Here, the only people who do what you talk get dead. Simple as that. When you go out thinking you are some badazz who isn't going to let some punk "diss" you, then you find out, at least here, how cheap a life is to these punks. They will shoot your Billy Badazz without blinking. That is a fact, and if you forget it, you die. Now, maybe in your neck of the woods you can get away with pulling that kind of act, I don't know, I don't live there. All I know for sure, is that it's a whole lot easier to be bad on the internet than to ride through Compton.

My point is this: Punks are everywhere, and they act the same for the same reasons. They want RESPECT without earning it, they confuse RESPECTING someone vs FEARING someone. I don't drive, walk, run or ride around thinking I'm a "badazz". I KNOW what I am and what I'm very capable of doing.

Punks breed Punks. You know that, all you have to do is go near Compton... but "Comptons" are everywhere. Punks are mistaken in their actions.

Punks don't really know how to shoot; good that they can't hit their intended targets... bad that they empty a whole clip and run outta ammo... usually hitting some poor kid watching looney tunes in the front den.

Philosophically I detest allowing SCUM to bully and act without counter measures. Realistically I know that there is a lot of turds floating around in toilets.

Punks need to learn that there are people around that will have them shot down, and their three buddies before the first one can even draw his "nine" outta his ***-dragging jeans waistband.

Are ya hearing me?

Thankfully none. I'd prefer it to stay that way.

I also know that over a lifetime the likelyhood is that it will change.

I'm all for prudent avoidance of scum... I don't go looking for it.

Sometimes it lands in your lap; and you HAVE to deal with it.

I hope the choice doesn't come down to giving a Punk the chance to do the right thing at the risk of myself or family... that decision has already been made.

It sounds like we think along the same lines; albeit expressed in different ways.
