China
In yesterday's paper, there was a picture of Harley Davidson executives with a bunch of China businessmen and government officials. Is this going to be the future of HD? That would suck, a made in China sticker on a HD...

RE: China
It sounds like another MOCO waste of money. If I remember right, BMW has been selling there since '02? Sold 70 bikes last year LOL

RE: China
It's an international market. HD would be fools to not take advantage of the Chinese market. Many of the parts on current HD's are made overseas. Recently, I replaced the fuel valve on my Standard and it was made in Japan. I just ain't no big deal to me.

RE: China
That's very true, Geezer....I guess my question is why have a dealership in a country in which it's not legal to have a bike that size (cc's)
"Harley-Davidson estimates small Chinese manufacturers build some 17 million motorcycles a year — most for domestic consumption — but most are small and used in rural areas, so they evade many of the restrictions on Harley-style heavyweight bikes. Other bikes such as 1950s-era Chang Jiang 750, which are still used by the Chinese government, are considered three-wheelers because of a sidecar, Hoelter said.
In contrast, BMW, which entered the Chinese motorcycle market in April 2003, said it sold only 70 bikes on the mainland last year."
Yes, it's a new market.....just very restricted. We all know who will pick up the tab on low sales in China....us lol. Guess paybacks a bitch.
