rear turn signal upgrade
Want to be seen when I put the brakes on. Have not rode for 20 years, but remember my decision to quit, ' outside forces beyond my control', *** hole drivers. Do not understand LED on my search of an upgrade or the suggested electronic parts of the up grade. Can I get some help here for my first upgrade. FIRST HARLEY, 2005 FLHTC, got about 600 new miles on her since purchase 11/05/05.

Welcome to the forum! You'll get a ton of good advice here. As for the lights, Harley makes a plug in adapter that turns your turn signals into brake lights. It's about $35.00. For LEDs, lots of aftermarket stuff. Kuryakin makes some good ones. Here's the link to J&P cycles.http://www.jpcycles.com Search LED tail lights and you should see 'em.
Good luck

RE: rear turn signal upgrade
Bought the Kyryakyn Panacea tail lihgt and turn signal light kit. Waiting to get my HD security system installed and programed to do the installation. I will let you know how it works.

RE: rear turn signal upgrade
I bought a Kuryakyn unit that plugs right into the system behind the battery that I'm pretty happy with. It makes the turn signals function as taillights/running lights so you have 3 lights back there instead of 1. When you apply the brakes the turn signals and taillight go into a short flashing cycle to get extra attention behind you. I don't think the HD unit works that way. Got it from Direct Parts for about 40 bux. I always felt that those cars coming up behind you while stopped at a light represent a major threat since you've got to trust those morons to be paying attention.

RE: rear turn signal upgrade
Today, rather than ride in the drizzle, I decided to install the Panacea lites on the scoot. The whole job took about 30 minutes. I am amazed at how much brighter the tail end of the bike is now. The rear turn signals acting as additional running lights make a lot of difference. And, as has been mentioned, the momentary flashing, plus the extremely bright LEDs are an attention-getter. I'd recommend this upgrade, in spite of the rather high cost. The more you can throw up in front of the cage morons the better.
