Battery tender & alarm

RE: Battery tender & alarm
Hey John, nice hearing from you again. Chappy still has the 03. I saw the 08 Anniversary Ultra and really liked it so I traded the old one in. Haven't had a chance to ride it due to all the ice and snow and road salt up here. I can't get over all the parts that have changed on the new one. Of course I built the motor up a bit with the 103 Stage II. I'm thinking this will be as good a toured as my old Ultra. Haven't talked to Chappy yet, but I would assume we will be making the annual ride to Effingham again this year.
Sam, I talked to my service dept and they said to place the alarm in service mode and that the directions were in the Owners Manual. Damned if I can find them there. I will talk to them again. However the Manual does talk about extended storage and battery removal.

Delta, yep, it's the same thing. On the 07 and 08 models (according to the Harley Techs that trained our guys) if you leave the battery out for an extended period of time, you will need to reflash. I pm'ed you about this, like I said;it still amazes me that they didn't come up with a fix for this in 08.

Sam,
Does that apply to the 08's as well? I was just getting ready to remove the battery for winter.

It also says that if the security system is not going to be armed AND a battery tender is not available you should either disconnect the neg bat cable or remove the Maxi-fuse if it has one.
