Suggestions for buying your first pain in the A$$ helmet...
Unfortunately I have to buy my first helmet (MD. law), never needed one years ago. I am assuming the half helmet is the ticket (not the crouch-rocket full face) but I didn't really like the fit or looks of the one's the Harley dealer had. Any suggestions of what kind, make and where else to look?

I bought an HJC 3/4 hemet. The HD helmets just didn't fit. HJC makes HD helmets but the liner is somewhat different. I just bought a full face helmet for cold weather. It's a Fulmer modular. Very nice if you need a full face. Always try one on in person. There is alot of difference in sizing. good luck.

Look in your yellow pages for motorcycle dealers/shops. We have 3 local indys - one carries HJC, the other HCI and Rodia. One Daytona I think. Our local Yam/Kawi/Suz dealer carries Shoei, Arai, Nolan and AGV
We have two Honda dealers too, they carry Fulmer, Vega, and a couple of other brands my head can't remember (I shopped around a lot!). I ended up with a Shorty from the HD dealer - an AGV and a modular from the Honda store - a Vega - very very comfy and very nicely priced for a modular too I might add.
All the dealers carried a selection of half helmets. Go around to all of them, and try a bunch on, its the only way you'll get something that truely fits YOU well.
Oh and by the way, I don't live in a massive town either!

Try different Helmets and see what fits you good and that doesnt make you look like a Bobble head.

Consider this a full scale flame war! Dust off your Reinharts and let me know when there is a "spring-fling" or something at Legacy H-D and I shall be there to cast a gauntlet in your helmet. Art

E-bay, J&P both are good places to start. Me I have a 1/2 for nice weather tooling around, 3/4 for longer rode trips, a dn a fullk face for cold/nasty weather. Just how I deal with it and where I bought mine.

Hey Gasman....
First off, welcome to Maryland.
Both my wife and I use the half helmets from Carbon Fiber Helmets. They are a bit pricey but extremely comfortable. If something ever happened to one I would definitely get another. Currently there is another post in regards to their DOT helmet not passing the test due to a model change. They are closed this week so I can't get a hold of them to ask any questions. But from what I hear eveything has been sorted out. I just want to hear it myself from the source.
