Default HD Extended warranty

On the 07 bike I bought last year, I paid in the 1400 range for like a 5yr extended warranty. Just bought a 08 motorcycle, tried to transfer the warranty to the 08 bike and they said it couldn't be done. I called and cancelled the extended warranty. HD send the dealer a check for a little over 500.00. I never used the extended warranty, what happened to the other 900.00 and change.
Talking about Ripp Offf. I learned my lesson. Will never git a extended warranty on anything with Harley, This was a scheme for the dealer to make extra bucks.

Tough lesson to learn. I have never bought an extended warranty on any two or four wheeled vehicle I've purchased and have yet to regret it. Not that it can't come up and bite me in the butt but I'm so far ahead now that there's no way I could loose.

It's sort of like going into a gambling casino. Some times a guy will win but in the long run it's the house that wins.

What someone told me a long time ago about extended warranty was to take the price of it and put it in an interest bearing savings account. If something needs to be done, you will have the money to fix it. Back then they were paying quite a bit more interest than what they do now.To give an idea on how much they make on extended warrany, a friend of minewas buying something at Best Buy and waspaying for it when the salesperson asked if he wanted the ext warranty, he said no and suddenly the item wasn't in stock.

You do lose every year that you have it, whether or not you use it, but something isn't right. We just did a cancellation on an extended warranty - the guy paid $1200 11 months ago and when we contacted Harley, his amount back is approx $920

It will be interesting to see what I get....prorated it should be close to $1000. If I get no bites on the bike soon I'll be turning that in so I don't lose any more on it.

Should also not matter if you used it or not...a warrenty is like insurance. You gamble that you will need the coverage you have and they gamble that you won't use it. If you do use it they shouldn't be deducting the price of the repairs from the warrenty pro-rate.
