Women riders
I started riding my own bike in August because my boyfriend is so into it. He said it would be a lot more fun if we could both ride together - in a lot of ways it is. As we've started hanging out at more biker bars, I get two responses. One is that women belong on the back of the bike (let's call that 90% of the guys). The others think it's pretty cool that a woman rides. I've also been told that only gay women ride (for the record, not true here....). So what gives, is this a boys club? I don't mind honesty, but please don't light the flamethrower on this one, I really want to know what you guys think.[sm=feedback.gif]

You need to find a better class of bars....
My favorite MSF story as to why women ride their own bike, was the lady who told the class that her husband always drove right down the white line on the edge of the lane. She figured that sooner or later it was going to be the cause of his demise, and she didn't want to be riding with him when it happened!

Well, I'm not a guy...but I think!!
Maybe your hangin in the wrong bars? I dunno! No one has ever expressed to me that I should be on the back of the bike. And I've only had positive comments on my riding. I've been riding for years. One of those that rode then...took a break...started riding again several years ago. Even in the 70's no one ever said anything negative. They were a little surprised then, but never said I didn't belong riding...Oh, and I'm not gay!! Not that there's anything wrong with that!

RE: Women riders
I think it is an awesome site to see women riding their own bike! My first thought is not whether or not they are gay. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't care either way. My first thought is more a kin to seeing someone filled with self confidence. That's a good thing.
I think there are a lot of whimpy guys out there that are barely past training wheels and already lackso muchconfidence, that they somehow feel threatened by a womenself-reliant enough to handle their own bike.
I say "you go girl", rock on! The guys that don't like it are ones you wouldn't want to know anyway.
I'd share the trails with ya any day!
