RE: winter in North Carolina
I live 20 minutes from Sanford near Lillignton, NC. Ride year round down to Fort Bragg. See www.rayprice.com - Raleigh, NC HOG Chapter. They have breakfest and lunch rides every other weekend.
About three hours to Mrytle Beach, SC - they have a spring and fall rally. About 9 hours to Daytona Beach - this year Feb 29 - March 9th (something like that).
PM me if you looking to ride, or see ya at Ray Price.

If ya go to do the Dragon a nice town to stay in (as Previously mentioned)is Maggie Valley. Lotsa good lodging, good eats, and a GREAT motorcycle museum called Wheels Thru Time, a must see 4 sure! You can ride 40 west all the way almost into Maggie Valley. Or take 40 to just this side of Asheville, jump on the southernmost 60 or so miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway to Maggie Valley. I took this ride myself just after Labor Day. On the way home I took the parkway North a couple of hundred miles to Meadows of the Dan Va then dropped back home. Sweet Ride! Maybe again in the spring!

PM me maybe we can meet up at Michaels some Sun AM.
