RE: Biker's Handbook: Becoming Part of the Motorcycle Culture
Damn guys! It is a book meant for entertainment and educating the ignorant. It doesn't need to be flamed on here. Don't like it, don't read it. After reading the article, I may take a look at it. It sounds like a fun read. Thanks for posting this Mike.

I just ride my bike. I don't want to be in any "culture". I am a member of the human race and that's all, period, nothing to add. I don't need no stinkin "biker rules" or "PC rules" or "how to.." rules. I'm a decent human being that works hard, pays my bills, loves people and my life and if I have to be pigeonholed to ride a bike....don't include me. I yam who I yam.

OH BOY!!! Another book to show me what to do to be a real biker. Since I'm too busy working, spending time with the family and riding to read this, can someone give me the important parts - where does he stand on the key issues:
Chaps
Harley Gear
Fingerless Gloves
Jap Bikes
Chrome
Waving
I gotta know - I'm riding this weekend and I want to make sure I get it right...

Kinda like reading "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Universe".... funny to read, but not relevant to my personal (weird) culture.[&:]

Umm, Dynamike, I have to take issue with your statement "He also refers to the Evolution motor as the Blockhead. This is not how I remember my motorcycle history."
I'm sorry, but Blockhead was the "unofficial" name for the Evolution motor. Just like theShovelhead, Panhead, Knucklehead and Flathead before them, Harley has their name and the public has their name. Believe it or not the Motor Company did not refer to any of the listed motors by the now common names until well after the nickname was more prevalent than the "official" name.

The seasoned vet will appreciate the reinforcement of lessons he's already learned and the stories Jay has to tell about his time with his buddies. The new rider will appreciate a lesson from a seasoned vet and will look forward to making stories of his own after reading about Jay's.
