I was wondering if they are the same and only the mounting brackets vary from model to model.

As for where they bolt up to the mounts. Anyone know???

 

There are a hand full of different looking floor boards or themes as I like to call them. You can get grips,pegs and boards that follow a certain look so a customer can keep a "flow" to the bike. I don't think the mounting area and hardware has changed. Vary easy to install/uninstall. Don't forgetthe loctite and when trying to pull the rubber nipple through the bottom I find window cleaner works great and can be wiped off and the reminder will dry. Some swear that wd-40 is the best for this. I disagree, cause we all know that thebottom of your boot and wd-40 don't mix unless you don't mind a busted rump!!

 

So if I pick up a set of footboards off of eBay, they should fit no problem as they are all have the same mounting footprint?

 

All of the HD floorboards pan mounts are the same. They will all interchange with each other. Now how the brackets that hold the floorboard pans on the bike, they are all mounted to the frame differently between the softail line and the touring line.

The insertsmay not fit the standart footboards but the that set will mount on a bike with that currently has the standard boards? That is my question.. If I remove a standard set, can I mount new boards such as these (above) in place of the standard? The FOOTBOARDS not the inserts...

 

Yesi belive the P/N for thefront (rider)are 50683-04 for the right and 50688-04 for the left...these are the pans that will accept the inserts i used in my example above. The pans are something like 35-45 bucks each or they have a kit that includes the street glide insertsthat retails for 179 or so P/N 50631-04....The passenger boards are P/N 50357-04 or 50716-04 depending on whether you want smooth or grooved.

 

The mounting brackets are the same, even though the shape may be different.
