Just thought I'd share with you all about the big bug, type unknown, that smashed on my glasses this summer. I don't wear a full face so when it hit I suddenly couldn't see out of my right eye do to the yellow guts. They quickly went with the flow down my nose and onto my upper lip. Do to the smell I resisted liking them although it was tempting. I pulled over to clean up and even my buddies could smell it as they pulled up. I think it was a grasshopper as we had hit several that day. What's your big bug story?[:'(]

 

Cicada, right on the lead edge of the visor. Guts nicely divided between right air vent hole on top and shades. Might as well have been a brick. Based on the impact, I'd guess he weighed a couple of pounds. Nice.

Wasn't a single bug. While north of Weed, California, I encounter a swarm of something. It nearly blacked out my visor.

 

A June bug got me on the fore head once. It came over the windshield and just under the visor on my helmet. It felt like a small brick!

On my way back from Biloxi a couple of weeks ago, some kind of bug hit the right front fork near the wheel and it was big enough and had enough guts to splatter all the way up to my face. The entire right side of the bike had yellow goo on it. I don't know what kind of bug it was but it tasted awful!

A couple of years ago, the wife and I took a short ride to a restaurant about 50 miles away. On the way home it was almost dark and we dropped off into this vally that crossed a river. There were some kind of little bugs swarming near the river that completely covered the windshield. We had to stop in the next town to clean up. They were splattered all over everything!

 

All kinds of bugs small and large but the most heart pounding flying critter was a sizeable bird. Luckily it bounced off my left shoulder and not my face.

 

Biggest was probably a Praying Mantis. And when he smacked he was still alive and hanging on my glasses staring at me.

 

Milk Moth. That sucker spatters and it covers acres!!

 

The second worst was a June Bug hit the bridge of my nose, felt like a rock and splattered both lenses on my glasses, the worst was while wearing a full face helmet I had a huge butterfly hit front and center and the wings were straight out blocking my vision! Was kind of scarey for a minute there!

 

How bout the biggest bunch of bugs? When I lived in the Black Hills, I had to take an evening trip one August all the way accross I-90 to Sioux Falls in my car. The bugs were bad overall, but after I went through the Missouri River basin, I couldn't see out the windshield and my car started to overheat a little. Had to stop at a carwash and do some serious pressure washing.

 

1971 Volkswagen Bug. It hurt like hell.
