depend on the weather and how good a rider you are I guess..dress warm and stay away from the ice and snow and you should be ok..cold for sure part of the way, probably real cold for the first day or day and a half after that very do-able I would think..

Im from NJ also. Personally I would not do it. But thats just me. If you have a tolerance for cold weather riding than go for it. You never know you might have a few 50 degree days. Good Luck if you decide to go. Ray

I say go for it, I would love to get a chance to do something like this. Just dress warm, and you will be out of the cold and in to the warm states in a day or two.
Good luck and take a camera. Maybe post up your route you never know who on this board would offer up a room for the night or a warm meal. I know for sure I would if you came through Texas. Also make sure you have good road side assistance or at least a good cell phone in case you get stranded. You just never know what could happen.

I just wear layers.Rode yesterday at 36F Full face helmet. No windshield, completely comfortable. But if you want less layers, and got a few bucks, they got heated pants, jackets, gloves, and seats that will keep you more than warm in the coldest of temp.'s Watch the road surfaces, that would be my biggest concern.

As an option, you can shiver your way to VA, and then hop on the AutoTrain. Very reasonable prices that lets you spend a night on a train and wake up in Florida. The train goes to Sanford (which is just northeast of Orlando). From there you can continue your journey to anywhere down here.
You drive your bike onto a sled that gets you tied-down, then the handlers use a dolly/forklift to slide your bike behind the cars loading. (its a tandom sled). My brother-in-law does it all the time. Leaves most of bike-luggage attached, just grabs a smaller duffle bag for the ride.
Like others have said, give us a shoutbecause there are numerous riders here that will make your trip fun!
