RE: need GPS unit-which one?
I was at the shop yesterday waiting for my service to be finished and was talking to the parts guys. One was saying he uses the GPS alot to know how fast he is really going. He mentioned the speedos are often off by as much as 5 mph.
Not saying it's true, not saying I care about 5mph either. It was just mildly interesting.

Funney how two people can have exactly opposite opinions on a product. Glad that doesn't happen in politics.............................

DonFLSTN, I used a RAM mount, go to their website. Very high quality. I liked the RAM mount so much I bought the car mount from them as well and I dont even use the oem one anymore, and that wasnt bad either.

No reply to anyone but this is what I do know:
If you want to buy a GPS unit, tomorrow “Black Friday” is the day to do it. I can not post links to internet cheap buying sites on this forum but you can search for them such as Woot, Dealtaker, etc. Know what you are going to buy beforehand as there will be many tomorrow for sale. I do not have any recommendations about GPS other than I use it on my laptop for yacht navigation and also for the street. This laptop is impractical fora motorcycle. I can say it does work very well.

I use and recommend a Garmin Quest, not the Quest 2, the original Quest. You can buy it on EBAY fully refurbished and guaranteed from reputable sellers for under $200 delivered to the house. It mounts on a Garmin Handlebar mount, about $20 extra. It's waterproof enough to handle a four hour ride in the rain (ask how I know) and the internal battery will last for a full day without a charge so you don't have to connect it to the bike's battery. Easy to use, small size (fits in a shirt pocket), waterproof, and you can load it with street maps, nautical charts, or topographic maps. Comes with a window suction type mount for the car, and a charger that connects to a cigarette lighter. Not bad for $200. See my earlier post for more info on another similar link.
