For the past 38 years or so, it ended for me on Dec 31 and started Jan 1.

Once the black ice arrives or the first salt trucks drop their first load which ever comes first. Yes, the trucks do put salt down prior to any snow or ice if they are anticipating a bad or potential storm coming.
For those of you that do not live in an area that salts the roads all winter, it will eat the chrome and any exposed metal within daysof being exposed to the salt.
It's not really salt, its a chemical, but for those that live here we simply call it salt. I envy all of you that can ride year round and some day I will be one of you, for those that can take a mid winter ride consider yourself lucky it takes away the winter blues. Until Spring we can ride snowmobiles. One takes the place of the other and that is an advantage to living in snow country.

We got lucky last year in New England and had a very mild winter. I think this year may be different, but I still fire the beast up every morning for work, and rides on my days off. (26 deg F. this morning, Burrrrrrrr). When the time comes to take the bike off the road, I'm going to have to double up on my meds[sm=icon_cheers.gif] and look through all the parts catalogs.

I'd like to see one of those buttplugs post a picture of themselves riding in a "real" winter conditions.

ORIGINAL: MNPGRider

Last year we didn't park the bike until Dec 28, which is the lastest I've ridden on a regular basis, but we had an exceptionally nice Mn fall. Usually by Thanksgiving we've had enough snow that the salt trucks are out, and even if the weather gets nice the pulverized sand on the street is extremely dangerous to try and ride on.

Someone wants to call us posers for not riding in this?

I may not choose to ride in snow but every chance in between I will ride at least to work and back

When there is ice, or cold enough for ice, I keep it parked. I do not ride nearly as much when its cold (below 40ish) then I do in the summer. Here in NC its only a few weeks when its that cold on a regular basis. I hope we get a lil snow this yr. I wanna take the bike out, just down my lil 1 lane country road and take some photos!

Why do these vote thing never have all the options??? The answer is that I've never done that in any state I've ever lived in: 6, north and south and east and west and central. I just don't ride when there's snow or ice.

Yah, what he said

ORIGINAL: whaap

Our good riding starts just about when most of the country hangs it up for the winter. Our off season is summer. We ride all summer but at the peak of the day it's on the verge of being nearly impossible.

Look forward to fall, winter and spring.
