I gotta put a plug in for Pennsylvania. You have a very nice spell of great riding weather,no helmet law and you can be to the mountains in the north or you can head south down to Carolinas where it is warmer in a matter of hours. The scenery is beautiful and it is rich with history.
I mean what better way to roll then with theAmish!! lol - but besides them it is a pretty great place to ride and live.[sm=confused06.gif]

FLORIDA!

 

It seems to me any state that would be in the running would have to include variety.... Mountains and Coastline. I have owned a bike while living in New England (Conn.)A short ride to the coast, Cape Cod, Maine seacoast is awsome, plus the mountains of NH and VT all within a days drive.
But I have been in NC fir 12 years and even with a helmet law I would say NC is tops!

 

I agree with AZ and So Cal. For scenery, CA wins it. Beaches, deserts, mountains all within an hour or two and you can split lanes.

AZ is great since there's no helmet laws, very few noise ordinances, and great weather most of the year. Summers suck, though.

I can't beleive that it took 22 posts for someone to mention NC. I think TN, NC and VA are some of the greatest places to ride. Great views and you can ride most months (with enough gear).

 

Tennessee gets my vote its also close enough to NC and VA + you can do one of those crazy across country trips to California from here not so great when you go from AZ

I agree, but I love Georgia...

-Excellent roads and road maintenance compared to most other stated I've been in.
-Beautiful scenery and riding areas from Savannah's coast line, the flat wide open spaces in south GA, the farms and trees outside metro Atl, to the endless beauty of north Ga's mountains.
-For the most part, year round riding.
-Endless biker friendly businesses (bars, campgrounds, resorts, restaurants, etc.)
-Motorcycle events, shows, and rallies year round.
-No shortage of motorcycle related shops & businesses.
-No laws against lane sharing, at least not that are enforced.
-No problems for loud pipe lovers, as long as you don't ride around quiet neighborhoods full bore at night pushing your luck.
-Plenty of nice places just across state lines to ride (e.g. Mount Cheaha, Deal's Gap/The Dragon)
-Southern Hospitality - Need I say more?
I could go on, but I'll stop for now.

Disadvantages:
-If you don't like helmets, don't bother.
-Bugs are heavy at times, especially in rural areas.
-Atlanta traffic
-Too many beautiful places to go in the state, and not enough time in a year to see them all.
