Default so many roads and so little time

love to ride
but i don't ride to work - chicago traffic - work downtown - too dangerous
by the time i get home - it's dark - especially with time change
don't drink and ride (no exceptions) - and my wife and i luv to go out and eat in the evening, sometimes i will ride and meet her, but usually we have wine or martinis (yeh yeh yeh - occassionally beer)
weekends i am either busy with normal shopping or family things or am trying to redo a house

so i take quick rides, sometimes doing chores and shopping
slip a ride in here and there
occassionally just blow it off and take the whole day

but there are times when its like days that i don't ride

almost want to get another job where riding would be more condusive and possible

envy you guys who can ride on a daily basis

Ya gotta move up North and West a little more. I live in Sleepy Hollow (near West Dundee). There are plenty of beautiful roads to ride on out here. I'm still in civilization, but on the edge of where it gets less crowded so heading South, West or North gets you into some very nice riding.

I agree. . . we live in Algonquin and we're minutes away from a ride along the Fox River or country roads, for now anyway.
Sleepy Hollow is anice area, we looked there for houses before we moved here.

Great job on the bike, old school, nothing better.

We try and get out and ride every sunday weather permitting. I'm not sure if your closer to up north by Candy Azz or down towards me. Feel free and drop me a line. There are alot nice country roads with some biker friendly bars that we stop at. I met Candy Azz about a month ago and a few other people from HDF, I'm hoping we can get some good riding in next year.

alright there chopperz

you are in the chitown area

give me a good way to go from lagrange to just north of millenium park.

congress? - ya gotta be kidding me - it is stop and go and heavy traffic just about any time of the day. I55 - a little better sometimes, and then could zip up LSD - but still during rush hour - yuck
have taken ogden in but some iffy neighborhoods (although it is getting better).

and then parking - a monthly would be $200+

and the ride is just crummy, stop and go, heavy traffic - actually takes longer to drive

with the burlington i can go door to door inan hour with a cost of under $10 - and there is an express train every 20 minutes from 6am to 815 and then from 4 to 6 in the evening

have thought about getting in at 6 and leaving at 3 - that is an option - but i end up staying late sometimes

now if i worked in naperville, aurora, schaumburg (although that can be full of traffic but has more alternate routes), even tinley park - then yeh - i could see it - part of it is that i would be driving anyway

so the safety, time, and cost issues just don't make it a realistic option

and to address the dark - not bad in and of itself - just more fun to ride during the day

like what the heck - 35 degrees and dark - and there i am riding - just to ride - wanted to stay out but it was heading up towards 11pm and i get up at 5 to go to work

just saying that it gets difficult sometimes to make the time around the other things

so there

I've been riding almost forty years, and I've been to Chicago many times. If I lived in Chi-town and worked downtown, there is no way I would ride my scooter to work. Damn traffic is crazy and so are most of the drivers.
