My vote goes to Marvel mystery oil, it also will cut down on varnish deposits

WD40 is a "W"ater "D"ispersant, it was formulated to absorb water and wash it away leaving a light film of oil.

Clean a chain with it sometime, and leave your bike sit for a week with out re-lubing. You'll have rust on the rollers.

I fog the car when I put it away. There is no way that I can see to fog the bike while it is running. Lesson learned, I do have Marvel oil and it will be used next year.

May have been at one time. And if so you would have thought that aviation community would want it. Not, I've spent over 20 years in Naval aviation and its totally illegal to use on Naval Aircraft.

Reason being that it allows metal to corrode. (rust)

You should take out plugs and squirt some regular engine oil into the jugs, to allow displacement of any remaining WD40. Then spin over and get the walls re-lubed so the slug's don't cease into the jugs. Then either use: Fogging oil, or tranny fluid, or engine oil, or Marvel Oil.

Only use the WD40 for removing road tar or bugs from your painted surfaces and thats it.
If you really want to use something on nuts and bolts for freeing them up and as a lube and penitrant, use PB-Blaster or SeaFoam

Dang.........15 replies and no one has made fun of him yet for not riding all winter like a "real" biker.[&:]

The only thing I'd be careful off is wetting down the intake track with fogging oil, which is supposed to be dry up to the injectors at the ports. It could be a source of dirt collection in the coming years riding since it would not be washed back off with gasoline when you start riding again.

When you spin it over after you do the fogging or whatever you decide,If using the starter make sure you ground the plugs,or pick up the a$$ end put it in a mid gear and spin the tire by hand. You won`t spin it fast enough to spray your tank.My $.02.Toby
