Help me decide!! Dyna Vs. Softail
Hi all, I'm hoping I can get some questions answered from the experienced diehard Harley riders.
Since I will be purchasing my first Harley very soon, can anyone explain the benefits of both the Dyna and Softail models when compared to each other?
I don't mean looks or different models, I mean benefits in the design of frame and suspension. Does one handle better, ride smoother, take bumps better, etc..?
What are the characteristics of each? Will be buying very soon and would appreciate any input you may have. Thanks!!

Mostly personal preference. I have always been a fan of the Softails. To me they look the way a Harley is supposed to look.

I've owneda Softail whne my buddy had a Dyna. We switched off quite a bit. I really liked my ride better, but I will admit that his Dyna performed a bit better. I would suggest riding both before you buy. If your stealer doesnt have one to ride (or won't let you) find a dealer who will. You dont want to put that much $ on something then decide that the grass is greener...

If you're buying new, most dealers will reemburse you the cost of one days rental if you try a bike out and then buy a bike. I've never done it but see if they will rent you both for 1/2 day each and charge you one days rental which the dealership will refund you after you make up your mind and buy one.
