If you buy either one with out riding each, then you pretty much flipped a coin anyway.

Rode all the bikes, and still changed my mind 3 times in a little over a year. Riding habits started changing . Old lady started to want to ride all the time.

softail........I love the ride of a dyna....I just hate looking at shocks....no matter how chromed up they are......just never liked looking at the shocks......other than that...DYNA'S rock.....

I don't think you will go "wrong" either way, I bought a Dyna sunk a lot of time and money in it, now it's perfect for me and I totally love it, could have done the same with any big twin, and still been happy, I love all Harleys and definetly won't bash any model, the Dyna line just fit for me.

I vote Dyna.... but then I'm a bit biased.
As far as the windshield goes, that all comes down to how/where you ride. I have a detachable windshield for my bike, and haven't used it since Daytona Bike Week. It's gotten colder and it will probably being going back on this week. I've also been doing more back road riding this year, and avoiding the highways.

I bought a Dyna super glide custom and love it. Now alot of the comments on here are good there are more easily available add ons for softails and things.
BIG NOTE here if your buying now push for the deals man. Just to give you an idea F and S harley in dayton ohio is offering $1,500 in accessiories or chrome etc if you get one of there 2007 bikes off there floor they want to move the bikes make room for the 08's.
