an honest rant.......
I've ridden Harleys on and off since the 80's, and I posted today how my current Sportysprung an oil leak, and how it reminded me of my old Harleys...in a good way
I was kinda surprised at some of the responses I got, like I was speaking blasphemy er something.....
Heck, I originaly wanteda Harleysince I saw them sitting on the showroom floor with cake pans sitting under them to catch the leaks. I'm sure a few of you remember seeing that in person.
I'm I am just getting old? Don't they get it?
I must be missing something........

Although what you say is true and I am old enough to have actually seen those drip catchers, I think the MOCO and Harley riders in general have worked real hard to put that image behind us. It has taken a lot of time, money and effort and to remind folks is probably not a good thing.Apparently some are still sensitive about bringing up the bad old days (skeletons in the closet).[sm=badidea.gif]

Yeh, but it is a part of who we are. There's nothing wrong with having to pull over and tighten something, or to get home and add some oil. We're the reason they invented tool bags. It's a niche group...or at least it used to be.
Reminds me of that one commercial...... "Change is bad"
There's nothing wrong with HD making abetter product....but you don't have to answer to all those metric fools.....lol
They surely don't get it
There's only onerolex.....regardless of how old it is

Ya think the MoCo pays some of these characters to bash anyone who complains????? If I was running the company, I would.
These boys never had the pleasure of the old Panheads, etc. If you have been with Harley since the 50s and 60s, or before that, then you have earned the right to say whatever you want and the runny nose yippers can shove it.
Just ignore the TROLL boys. I don't know how some of these guys find time to ride and post 5,000 times. Most people don't live on this board. Normal people check the board every now and then and may bring up a topic that they missed. Lots of new bikers, and everyone has been that at one time. So, all you 5 year, 3,000 mile a year guys who "know" the ropes show some class.
As for issues, Harley has them. If they become public, then you can go "fix" them before they become real big issues. Example is the cam issues on the TCs. Also, cheap materials and design problems are legit beefs.
For those who feel insecure in their decision to buy a Harley and feel the need to defend it, take some comfort by going to Goldwing, BMW, Boss Hossand other boards and read about problems with those bikes. I own most of them and they all have problems.
And before all you TROLL guys start up, I DON'T CARE, so save the ink.

Honestly I didn't see anyone bashing you in that thread schumacher. Just some people saying theirs didn't leak and a couple jokes and that was it.

It amazes me how some guys will share all of their wisdom, prove their HD legacy and then at the end of their self promotion they post that they don't care.
