How much can you make working at a dealer?

$5,000.00 - $10,000.00 not even close ! Try around maybe 8% per bike at full list. Then you have to try and pay for all the advertisement and sales help out of that. With the size of most of these dealerships and cost of running them I think you would be surprized on how little the average dealer makes now a days. With HD putting a dealer on almost every corner their market is shrinking. I bet in the next 2-3 years you'll see some dealers close, especaily in the midwest or area's with a shorter season. As far as turning your hobby into your job......not something I'd advise. I'd say the average pay in most postions range between
$8.00 - $15.00 per hour.
$8.00 - $15.00 per hour.

Another thing to consider is where you live. If you lived in California, Arizona or someother place with year round riding you would be producing on a year round basis. However, if you lived somewhere in the snow belt you would earn nothing in the winter of if you were lucky the dealership might switch over to snowmobiles in the winter time to help you earn some bucks during the off season.

I loved Bass fishing all of my life, I got into tournament fishing. Had to race watching the clock on everything I did. It became like a job when I would go fishing. I even moved to a lake to live on it. Just where I always wanted to live
Well it took all the fun out of it and I quit fishing. Don't even have a desire to go and I have a boat sitting down stairs that hasn't been moved.
If you enjoy something don't make a job out of it.

I will admit working at a dealership does have drawbacks...long summer hours and weekends instead of riding, but had I not had surgery this summer, I still would or could have ridden more than I did while in my factory job that everybody despises. I will say you can make a living in a dealership but you are not going to get rich, especially in the midwest. Advantages are plenty as well...have you been on the new Rocker yet, I have. I am on more different bikes in a week than most will get the chance to ride in a lifetime, and the discounts are good too...not near the 400% mark up on tshirts or accessories nor the 5-10 grand on the bikes, but it is good. and fun, and I have not missed a meal yet.

Does that mean, if I get a job working the door at a titty bar, I'll hate tittys after a couple of weeks?[sm=icon_sneaky.gif][sm=sorry.gif]

My guess is that - over time - you'd eventually adopt the casual, unknowingattitude of, "You've seen one pair, you've done seem 'em all."
