OK, this is my first Harley, so I'm new to the game. Picked up my 08 RKC last month, and want to make a few changes right away. Soooo....over to the dealer I went this weekend:

Sundowner solo seat? "Sorry, don't show one for the '08"
Mini tachometer/housing? "Sorry, don't show one for the '08"
New set of grips to match the floorboards/brake pedal/shifter ***** I put on: "Sorry, dont see that....." I think you get the point.

Is this normal?

I wouldn't expect to start seeing 08 parts til about january. Some may trickle in before that,Some will surely be after that.

 

They run about a year behind, most of the 07 parts were just available this spring.

 

Holy crap, that might be about the baddest *** ride I've seen on this site........

It's all about Harley marketing. You buy an 08 and parts come out 6-10 months later. You've already shot your wad on the bike and you're broke. But.....
You have a whole year to save money to spend on parts the following year!
It's pure genius if you ask me[sm=insomnia.gif]

Honestly, sometimes you need to check the online catalogue, things are updated there fairly frequently as new parts become available.

 

Does anyone keep their bikes stock? Maybe if I see and hear moreI will understand.

 

Getfour HD P&A catalogues. One for work, one for the can, one in your vehicleand one for the bedroom. Follow up dealer for supplements as published.
Puruse all the bikes at any biker event, those on the forumand at the HD dealerships. Talk to the owners, ask them what was the best and worst of their purchases.
As well, pickup a Drag Specialties and Custom Chrome.
Make the online HD P&A page a favorite.
That should get you going.

 

Thanks Laz, Whak, much appreciated. It's actually being rebuilt as we speak (with some changes, vented lowers, more chrome, some screamin' eagle stuff), I flipped it late in July............so I had a really short riding season this year[:@]
