Kind of an odd-ball question but.....

In the past week, I've been to two different HD and two different Japanese dealers. Is it just me or does the smell of the new HD's in the showroom seem more pleasing than that of non HD showrooms?

Maybe it's just a scent of a very pleasant experienceof buying my bike.

 

It's all the testosterone. You don't get that at a Honda Dealership. I believe that would be estrogen.

It's NOT you. I went bike shopping back in April. Was torn between another HD, or defecting to a Goldwing. I went to my local Honda dealer, and was looking intently at an 07 Wing. I had done my research, and KNEW what other dealers in the midwest were asking, which was about 1600 below MSRP.

When I asked if they could match that, I was told "It's NOT about what you pay, its about the shopping experience."

I was like WTF......If I was interested in Shopping Experience, I would be back at my HD dealer, where I can get lunch, go to the coffee shop, get a freakin Hair Cut, go to the clothing section, etc. This NOT a shopping experience by any means. It's a big room with indoor-outdoor carpet, and a fleet of shiny new bikes sittin around.

The 2 HD dealers in my area share the same idea, only they believe, its not what you pay, They act as though itsthe privelagetopurchase a new Harley from them. I,m glad all are not that way.

 

I've gone into the local Japenese "Mutli-Denominational Superstore" a few times when the GF had a Virago, and it always smelled like a tire store. and except for the typical salesman, all the other employees were lathargic at best. At least the HD Dealer you could smell the coffee brewing in the Motorclothes area, and for the most part, the majority of the people there are friendly.

 

Yes I did. It still stunk in the dealership though.

 

In the "old days" you could tell the difference by the smell of Gunk in the Harley dealerships.

 

I belive the aroma in the honda dealership is from rice farts...[:'(]
