Harley Vibes: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

RE: Harley Vibes: Good, Bad, or Ugly?
My best friend went into his dealer to ask about reducing the vibration on his Softail. The wrench suggested he get a Suzuki. I laughed my *** off. I had a Suzuki once...nice bike, very smooth, but I'd never own another!

I love the vibration at idle. She smooths right out at highway speed too[sm=icon_rock.gif]. Harley did GOOOOD with the TC88B!!!
Cheers!

I lika a little vibe, as I rode evo's and shovels for years, but the 88b has taken a lot of the constant vibe out which after a while could get to you, so for me now a little is just right.

So far it looks like the engineers at Harley are correct; by about a 2 to 1 margin we think that the vibes are just right. One-quarter of us think that there is too much vibration or that only the balanced motor will do.
Anybody unhappy with the vibes want to comment?

I think a Harley rumbles more than vibrates. I think the annoying buzz of an in-line is about the most wrist-deadening feeling you can have on a bike. My EGC's engine moves at idle, (flopping around on the rubber, I guess) but it's not something transferred to the wrists or feet. At speed, I don't notice much of anything. My buddy has a STC (88B) and his engine doesn't move a lick at lights, but does vibrate a little more at speed.
Looks like in the trade off between a low frequency rumble or the high frequency vibration of most in-lines, I'd definitely prefer the rumble...

Just got to wondering if anybody has done any major aftermarket-type work to reduce vibration...balance, blue print, etc.? Did it help?
How about the independent motor manufacturers: S & S, TP, Rev-Tech, etc.? How does their product compare to the MOCO's--vibration wise?
