Default Bikers for the Brave

Went on a great ride yesterday. Dr. Laura Schlessinger (radio talk show host) was in town for a radio station thing and she along with about 200 other people gathered at Southside HD in VA Beach for a ride to raise money for a group called Operation Family Fund (http://www.operationfamilyfund.org/), to raise moeny for the families of those hurt or killed in the war. We rode all over Virginia Beach under police escort, the only drawback was the the ordance about this stuff just changed and we were not allowed to ride as one big group and blow through the traffic lights, they broke us up into groups of 30-35 riders.

All in all it was a great ride for a great cause.

I was over at Knuckleheads eating breakfast yesterday and started to do that ride but ended up just cruising around instead.
That's odd that they broke it up into 30-35 riders. I wonder if that decision had anything to do with the biker getting killed at the Swamp Run the weekend before.

One of the road captains said it was that and a couple of other accidents that have happened recently. He said the other problem was the load on the LEO's he said that last year there were 19 escorted rides southside, and this year that had been over 60. We had cops from Norfolk, Va Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake. The only other thing that made it tough was the guy on the 20 rebel, he couldn't keep up and seemed like he always ended up in front of me. I do commend him though on coming out.

Yeah I wanted to do that one, but I work at Arena Racing and our season starts next Saturday at the Coliseum. I will do the Hampton Roads Toys for Tots run next month.
